Still don't know what a Blog is

     A friend of mine said I should create a blog...."whats a blog?" I asked.  She said you know someone that writes regular  how too's, informative topics. or just daily life.  I sat there kinda blank and said ...Um - no, still don't know what a blog is.  So I googled what is a blog - well that was less helpful than my friends definition - still didn't know what a blog was.  She told me I was a smart and opinionated person, that I enjoyed writing and had a sarcastic sense a humor.   My response was, just what are you trying to say...

     So here I sit in front of a blank screen on the computer, still really have no idea what a blog is, but thought I'm going to have one of them there blogs - why not?  I decided it would be of country humor, sometimes just my daily life right here on the farm.  After all, even if she is the only one who reads it - well at least I don't have to keep wondering what a blog is...

     To keep it simple, my very first blog will  be a poem I wrote reflecting back to my childhood.

Buyer Beware
The trailer rolled in around 5 a.m.
The fog was thick and the light was dim
The door opened with a rusty creek
​I stepped in a puddle where the trailer had leaked.
I felt around and reached for the rope
I asked if she kicked and the cowboy said nope
I walked her out and took a look
Couldn't see much as I reached for my checkbook.
Said she could run, rope and spin
I said that's great as I walked her to her pen
The sun came out and I wondered out back
Stopped at the shed grabbed my saddle and hack.
​Stepped up to the fence and gazed through the boards
Then my heart stopped and I said oh good Lord
I don't believe I'd seen and uglier nag
Her coat was rough and her back it sagged.
Her ribs well they showed
And even her legs were bowed
She was blind in one eye
An as Pa walked up he said what the heck did you buy.
I explained to him she was a registered Appy
With only one spot he responded kinda snappy
I ensured him what counts is she could ride
Then my Dad just shook his head and sighed
I saddled her up and jumped right on
An expected to be up, off and gone
But she stood there and let out a grown
An I believe at the same time I heard my Dad moan.
She wouldn't walk, trot, or even move
I guess she just didn't have anything to prove
Winter came and first cold snap she died
And I never did get that nag to ride
As I stood there and looked at her on the ground,
My Dad had wondered on down,
And as I was thinking to myself this really sucks
An I was out some really big bucks
And then my Dad looked at me with this cocky stare
An all he could say was....Buyer Beware.

This mare actually came from a rescue in KY, the picture is from her first week with us. She gained weight, showed us her heart and turned out to be the best horse I ever owned...and now she is over 35yrs old & I still have her today!

Valentine 35 yrs plus and loving life
